About This Artist
Where you work:
Lukas Penney is a Melbourne-based artist, activist and communicator involved in a range of social projects focused on empowering cooperation and sustainability. Lukas advocates purposeful communication focused on the vibrancy and resilience of communities.
What medium you use most:
For large scale murals, usually spray paint and house paint.
I use any and every medium. When I’m life modelling I use my body, the light in the room and the objects around me. When I’m designer I use software and technology. When I’m making visual art I use anything that makes a mark on anything that receives a mark. Probably my most used medium is my vocal chords – I use them to talk about my ideas!
Your special superpowers:
Empowering people through collaborative creativity… and balancing on one leg.
What makes you unique (interests hobbies quirkiness):
I’m an identical twin. I’ve been a life model for 4+ years. I collect records from all over the world – I love to tell friends the stories behind every record, what was happening in the world at the time, and how I came to find the piece of music. I also love to be naked in nature and rub mud on myself.
What’s your reason to make art?
Art is my lens to perceive the world. Art is a universal language to explore curiosity of life and to express something meaningful.
